The Good Nurse, available to stream Oct. 26 on Netflix, is based on Charles Graeber’s 2013 book about ICU nurse and serial killer Charles Cullen. Directed by Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm (A War) and written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917), the true-crime drama tells the story of the nurse who befriends Cullen before realizing that something is amiss with her kind and helpful new co-worker once their patients start dying.

Jessica Chastain

An ICU nurse and single mom of two, Amy Loughren works the night shift and can barely make ends meet. Forced to delay treatment for a life-threatening heart condition, she’s relieved when her caring new co-worker, Charlie, steps up to help her on the job and at home. However, her belief in Charlie’s goodness starts to waver as patients keep dying.

Oscar– and Golden Globe–winning actor Jessica Chastain portrays Amy. She is best known for her roles in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Molly’s Game, The Tree of Life and Zero Dark Thirty.

Eddie Redmayne

A seemingly sweet and selfless ICU nurse hired for the night shift at a New Jersey hospital, Charlie is empathetic to Amy and her medical condition. He’s quick to cover for her when she’s feeling unwell, and the two quickly become close. But Charlie’s history at nine other hospitals points to a much darker truth about who he is.

Eddie Redmayne is an award-winning British actor whose honors include wins at the Academy Awards, the BAFTAs, the Tonys and the Golden Globes. He is best known for The Theory of Everything, Fantastic Beasts and The Danish Girl.

Noah Emmerich

Detective Tim Braun is nonplussed by the hospital’s delay in contacting police to investigate the unexpected death of one of their ICU patients. Despite systemic resistance within the hospital, he and his partner, Danny, tackle the case with resolve. 

Actor Noah Emmerich is most recognizable from his role as Stan Beeman in The Americans. He was a series regular in Suspicion and the Netflix series Space Force.

Nnamdi Asomugha

While investigating the unusual death of a patient, Detective Danny Baldwin becomes fed up with the hospital’s recalcitrance. Enraged by the bureaucracy that hinders their case, Danny and Tim appeal to Amy for help.

Before becoming an actor, Nnamdi Asomugha (Crown Heights) was an NFL cornerback for the Oakland Raiders, the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers. He has also produced the films Harriet and Beasts of No Nation.
