There’s never a shortage of intrigue, betrayal, and jaw-dropping twists in Tyler Perry’s hit series Beauty in Black. With all of Season 3 arriving exclusively on Netflix Aug. 27, now’s the perfect time to revisit where the drama left off.
Season 2 ended with Kimmie, Mallory, and Horace pulling off their biggest power play yet: outmaneuvering the Bellarie family, turning state’s evidence, and watching as the FBI descended to arrest them. The move leaves Kimmie seemingly on top of the empire, but with an even bigger target on her back.
“Kimmie is on top of the world at the end of Season 2. Her plan worked; most of the Bellarie family is headed to prison, and she pulled it off by teaming up with Horace and Mallory. For the first time, she may actually allow herself to exhale,” says Taylor Polidore Williams, who plays Kimmie. “But the hardest part of being powerful isn’t gaining the power, it’s keeping it.”
Of course, the Bellaries aren’t the only players whose stories are far from over. And where does that leave Varney, Rain, and the rest of the crew caught in Kimmie’s orbit? “We all know that peace isn’t going to last very long,” says Williams. “This is Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black!”
