In Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, a Foul Foe Returns

    Feathers McGraw is back.

    Jan. 23, 2025

Every Wallace & Gromit installment needs a great villain, and the new film is no exception. Titled Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, the latest stop-motion entry follows our favorite inventor and his loyal pooch as they face off against a brand-new chicken opponent — wait a second, he’s removing something from his head. No! It can’t be! That’s no chicken! It’s Feathers McGraw!

That’s right, the famed villain of the 1993 short film The Wrong Trousers is back, and as the title suggests, he’s out for revenge. The dastardly jewel thief made a brief cameo in the final scene of last year’s Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, but now Feathers, the Sphenisciformes Napoleon of crime, is finally back in full force.

You can see a new trailer for the film above, including a peek at Feathers’ grand return. Read on to learn more.

What is Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl about?

Aardman’s four-time Academy Award–winning director Nick Park and Emmy Award– nominated Merlin Crossingham return with a brand-new epic adventure, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. In this next installment, Gromit’s concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions proves justified when Wallace invents a “smart” gnome that seems to develop a mind of its own. When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master … or Wallace may never be able to invent again!

“Returning to Wallace and Gromit is like meeting up with family friends,” Park told Netflix, adding that he thinks fans share that sense of connection. “People respond to them because they feel so familiar. They’re like an old married couple in some ways, who know each other so well –– it’s a sort of love-hate relationship, but when the chips are down, they are always there for each other. Wallace pushes Gromit’s loyalty to the extreme, and Gromit always wants Wallace to change. It’s something everyone can relate to.”

The duo will need to harness all their combined ingenuity to defeat the resurgent Feathers McGraw. “One of our most asked questions is ‘When will Feathers come back?’ ” Crossingham told Netflix. “Well, now is the time, and he’s back with a vengeance.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Wallace & Gromit adventure without a new cracking contraption. “We are delighted to introduce Norbot, a ‘nifty odd-jobbing robot’ gnome, designed to help Gromit with his gardening chores,” directors Park and Crossingham said. “Norbot is Wallace’s most proud achievement to date and, according to Wallace, his ‘best invention ever’! Garden gnomes have long been a part of Wallace and Gromit’s world, but this is no cute patio ornament. Norbot is the ultimate gnome — a ‘smart-gnome.’ We’re so excited to see Wallace unleashing his latest invention, Norbot, into the world. However, his long-suffering pooch, Gromit, may be a little less sure …”

Just look at Gromit’s face in your first peek at Norbot above. The poor guy. When will Wallace learn?

When will Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl be on Netflix?

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is streaming now on Netflix, excluding the UK. It’s the perfect time of year for a penguin’s revenge.

Can I see a trailer for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl?

Yes! Check out a full look at the new Wallace & Gromit film at the top of this page. Wallace has a new invention, a cheery robotic garden gnome named Norbot. Of course, in typical Wallace fashion, he may have overreached — and Feathers McGraw is waiting in the wings to crank Norbot’s settings all the way from “pleasant” to “boorish” to just plain “EVIL.” Elsewhere in the trailer, you’ll get a glimpse at Gromit’s latest armchair read (Paradise Lost by John Milton, of course), Feathers’ prison workout routine, and a gondola chase for the ages.

Who’s in the cast of Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl?

Peter Sallis, the original voice of Wallace, died in 2017. He’s succeeded by Ben Whitehead (The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit).

Wallace’s loyal canine companion Gromit is, of course, entirely silent, as is Feathers McGraw. Their personalities are entirely teased out by Aardman’s peerless team of stop-motion animators.

Other cast members in Vengeance Most Fowl include:

  • Peter Kay (Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Phoenix Nights) as Chief Inspector Mackintosh
  • Lauren Patel (Lloyd of the Flies, Everyone’s Talking About Jamie) as PC Mukherjee
  • Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen, Inside No. 9) as Norbot
  • Diane Morgan (Cunk on Earth, Mandy) as Onya Doorstep
  • Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton, Invictus) as Judge
  • Muzz Khan (Galavant, Black Mirror) as Anton Deck
  • Lenny Henry (Penelope, The Pirates! Band of Misfits) as Mr. Convenience

Has Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl been nominated for any awards?

Yes! For the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Animated ahead of the 2025 ceremony. The film also received BAFTA nominations for Oustanding British Film, Animated Film, and Children’s and Family Film, as well as an Academy Award nomination for Animated Feature Film.

How many Wallace & Gromit films are there?

Vengeance Most Fowl is a perfect access point for anyone who wants to discover Wallace & Gromit for the first time, but if you’d like to catch up on all of their adventures, you’re in for a delightful ride. The cheese-loving duo were introduced in 1989’s Oscar-nominated A Grand Day Out, the space-bound short film that asks the question: “Isn’t the moon made of cheese?” The film began as Nick Park’s graduation project at the National Film and Television School, before being finished when he joined Aardman.

In 1993, The Wrong Trousers introduced Feathers McGraw as an unlikely houseguest at 62 West Wallaby Street; replete with a mechanical pants-fueled model train chase, the film won the franchise’s first Oscar for Best Animated Short Film. A Close Shave (1995) teams a window-cleaning Wallace and Gromit with breakout star Shaun the Sheep (voiced by Justin Fletcher) and won another Short Film Oscar; Shaun would go on to headline his own television show, Christmas special, and two features, including A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon on Netflix. (Keep an eye out for a cameo from a Shaun the Sheep mainstay during the climax of Vengeance Most Fowl.)

The Wallace & Gromit series went feature-length in 2006 with the monster-movie riff The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature (a first for a stop-motion animated film). Short film A Matter of Loaf and Death, in which the dynamic duo begin a new profession as bakers targeted by a serial killer, came out of the oven two years later in 2008; it nabbed another Oscar nomination. That brings us up to date with Vengeance Most Fowl.

If you’re new to the franchise, don’t worry. Crossingham hopes that Vengeance Most Fowl will serve as an introduction to a new generation of fans. “I want this film to reach people who have never come across Wallace and Gromit before,” he said.
