All is not what it seems in Tall Pines, but viewers were all too eager to get to the bottom of the psychological mystery in Mae Martin’s new Canadian series Wayward. Starring Toni Collette as the eerie leader of a school for troubled teens and Martin as a newcomer police officer who begins questioning the school’s practices while investigating a series of strange occurrences, the series took No. 1 on the English TV list with 8.2 million views.

Slaying records left and right, KPop Demon Hunters reached another significant milestone as it officially became Netflix’s longest-running original English film to remain in the Top 10. In its record-making 15th week, the film took the No. 1 spot on the English Film list with an additional 19.3 million views. It’s currently sitting as Netflix’s Most Popular English-language film, and arguably the frontrunner for many weighing their Halloween costume options this year. Fans can also look forward to HUNTR/X’s first-ever live televised performance as the singing voices for the film — EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Oct. 7.

In non-English TV, Spanish series Billionaires’ Bunker worked its way to No. 1 (10.3 million views) in its second week with the tale of Max (Pau Simon), a young man recently released from prison who reenters society only to find it in the midst of a nuclear showdown, and must join his affluent family in a luxury bunker with other privileged people.

Topping the non-English Film list, also for a second week in a row, is German rom-com She Said Maybe. The cute story, about a woman on a romantic getaway with her boyfriend when she discovers she is a descendant of an affluent aristocratic Turkish family, has earned another 8.9 million views. Meanwhile, the new quirky French romance French Lover debuted at No. 2 with 8.1 million views. It stars Omar Sy (Lupin) as a jaded actor who unexpectedly falls for a down-on-her-luck waitress played by Sara Giraudeau.

A romance that spans centuries gets a modern retelling, as the biblical love story Ruth & Boaz took the No. 2 spot on the English film list with 10.3 million views. Co-produced by Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin as part of their faith-based film partnership with Netflix, the movie stars Serayah as Ruth and Tyler Lepley as Boaz, whose palpable chemistry clearly charmed viewers. On the rom-com end of the romance spectrum was the Miranda Cosgrove–led film The Wrong Paris, which landed at No. 3 on the list with 7.6 million views.

New on Netflix this week is House of Guinness, a period drama series created by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), which debuted at No. 3 on the English TV list with 5.2 million views. Based on a pivotal moment in the Guinness beer dynasty, the series follows the four Guinness children as they navigate their father’s business empire in the wake of his death in 19th-century Dublin. For modern-day drama, fans of Jude Law and Jason Bateman’s gritty new thriller Black Rabbit thrust the series into the No. 2 spot for the second week in a row with 7 million views.

Meanwhile, viewers continue to enjoy the macabre misadventures of Nevermore Academy’s most perceptive pupil, putting Wednesday Season 2 at No. 4 on the English TV list with 4.4 million views. As the show’s views grow, so does its ranking on the Most Popular English TV list: It’s now sitting in the No. 7 spot with 107 million views as it inches closer to Wednesday Season 1, which still reigns at No. 1. Viewers continue to check in at the Haunted Hotel, putting the adult animated comedy at No. 7 in its second week with 2.8 million views. Fans of the series about a single mom trying to keep her business afloat while opinionated ghosts offer advice and live their best afterlives will be thrilled to hear the series is set to return with a second season

German thriller Brick broke through the non-English Most Popular Film list at No. 9 this week. The mind-bending mystery about apartment tenants trapped inside their building has now amassed 61.2 million views.

New to the non-English film list this week is the Korean action film Mantis, which nabbed the No. 3 spot (7 million views) and is set in the same cinematic universe as 2023’s Kill Boksoon, about the underground world of hired assassins.

Back with a third season is Alice in Borderland, which shot to No. 2 in its premiere week with 8.5 million views as it catches up fans on where Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) are in the aftermath of Season 2 and whether they’ve truly escaped the parallel universe of Borderland. Viewers are also returning to Season 1, where it all began, putting it at No. 7 on the list with 1.4 million views.

In its sixth week on the list, the time-traveling culinary adventure series Bon Appétit, Your Majesty continues to charm viewers, taking the No. 3 spot on the non-English TV list with 6 million views. Another fresh original series this week at No. 6 (2.7 million) is Colombian drama The Guest, in which an unstable couple working on their relationship are thrown for a loop when a vague acquaintance of the wife’s shows up at their home and threatens more than just their marriage.
