Every time the Locke family thinks their lives in Matheson, Massachusetts, have finally settled down, the amusing but mighty magic of Keyhouse pulls them back into the shadows. Fans can expect to see that familiar conflict tackled in a fresh way in Locke & Key’s third and final season.
Developed for television by Carlton Cuse, Meredith Averill and Aron Eli Coleite, the series follows three siblings who unlock supernatural powers with keys found in their family’s ancestral home. In doing this, Tyler (Connor Jessup), Kinsey (Emilia Jones) and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) unfortunately also unleash demons trapped in the house. In order to defeat those evil spirits, the Locke kids must not only unearth the secret history of the keys, but also of those who once protected them. In Season 3 of Locke & Key, there’s a new demon in Matheson, recently discovered keys with unfamiliar powers and more family history for the siblings to untangle, this time with the help of their mom, Nina (Darby Stanchfield).
Fans of the Locke & Key IDW comic book series written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodríguez are likely already planning to dig into the final season. But you don’t have to be familiar with the source material to enjoy the supernatural teen drama. This entire series will be easily devoured by anyone who gravitates toward fantasy, YA or horror. Though the Locke kids are the focus of the show, it explores adult themes like overcoming grief and traumatizing family secrets. Also, of note: It does feature scenes with underage drinking and minors in unsafe situations, which may make it unsuitable for some young viewers. For mature audiences, however, seeing how the Locke family and their friends navigate metaphysical obstacles is emotional and powerful.
The trailer for the final season of the series gives fans a peek at a key never before used by Tyler, Kinsey or Bode that may unlock past traumas and even more trouble.

Locke & Key couldn’t come to a proper end without Matheson’s most beloved residents. All your favorite characters will be returning for the series’ conclusion — but be prepared for some surprising faces to turn up, too.
Tune in to watch this supernatural teen drama conclude when all eight episodes drop on Wed, Aug. 10, 2022. Soaring through the entire series will be a breeze once all the seasons are finally unlocked.
Saying goodbye to the Locke family and leaving Matheson is a devastating prospect, but there will not be another season of Locke & Key after it comes to its conclusion on Aug. 10. In April, co-showrunners and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill officially confirmed that the show will end with Season 3. “Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” Cuse and Averill wrote in a statement. “As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.” Fans may not possess the memory-activating Head Key, but you can relive the magic of Locke & Key anytime by simply rewatching all three seasons of the series.
