In 1862, an English nurse travels to a village in Ireland to observe a young girl who has reportedly survived without food for months. Oscar nominee Florence Pugh, Tom Burke and Kíla Lord Cassidy star in The Wonder, which premieres on Netflix Nov. 16.

Pugh plays Lib, a nurse from London invited to an Irish village to verify its claim that 11-year-old Anna O’Donnell hasn’t eaten in four months. Skeptical of the villagers’ belief that Anna is evidence of a heavenly miracle, she looks for a logical explanation as she grows more concerned for Anna’s well-being.
Pugh was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in the 2019 drama Little Women. She also starred in Midsommar, Malevolent and Lady Macbeth and appeared in Black Widow and Outlaw King.

Burke plays William “Will” Byrne, a London reporter covering Anna’s story. Originally from the Irish countryside, he understands the mindset of the villagers better than Lib but also shares her skepticism. While Will’s bluntness rubs Lib the wrong way, he persists in trying to get interviews with her and Anna.
Burke recently played Orson Welles in the 2020 biographical drama Mank. He also stars in the detective crime series C.B. Strike and appeared in The Crown, The Souvenir and The Musketeers.

Cassidy plays Anna, an 11-year-old village girl in Ireland who refuses to eat and believes she’s sustained by “manna from heaven.” Soft-spoken and timid, she shows humility despite the attention she’s receiving and slowly opens up to Lib.
Cassidy also appeared in the drama series Viewpoint and the 2020 action thriller The Doorman.
