Season 2 of the groundbreaking Japanese reality series, which became the country’s first to explore same-sex romance, is streaming now. This time around, the bonds forged among a new group of queer men unfold in wintertime as they embark on an unforgettable journey of love and friendship.

“Being the first same-sex romance reality show in Japan, we paid careful attention to ensure that the story was an authentic portrayal of these relationships,” said Dai Ota, executive producer at Netflix. “In Season 1, we showed not just romance, but their friendship and meaningful connections with one another. In Season 2, we will continue to showcase their compassion and stories of growth, with more unique perspectives and backstories.”

New episodes of The Boyfriend are released every Tuesday over four weeks up until the finale. 

  • Batch 1: Jan. 13 (Episodes 1–6)
  • Batch 2: Jan. 20 (Episodes 7–9)
  • Batch 3: Jan. 27 (Episode 10–12)
  • Batch 4: Feb. 3 (Episodes 13–15)
