Thanks to fan-favorite TV shows like Outer Banks, My Life with the Walter Boys, and Finding Her Edge, graduation doesn’t have to mean leaving your teenage years behind. Stream these hit teen series to feel like you’re 17 again.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
Based on Holly Jackson’s young adult mystery novel of the same name, this whodunit series stars Emma Myers (Wednesday) as Pip Fitz-Amobi, a teenager in a small English town who is still haunted by the disappearance of another girl years prior — and consumed by the conviction that the authorities got the wrong guy. When the young detective decides to investigate the shocking case herself, she uncovers truths that many would prefer were left buried.
Cobra Kai
Sometimes when you’re a teenager, you encounter a rival, whether academically or — if you’re a character on Cobra Kai — at the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. The series sees The Karate Kid martial artists and former adversaries Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) all grown up, training the next generation of karate kids at the dojo. Or, sorry, karate teens.
Derry Girls
You can take the girl out of Derry, but you can’t take Derry out of the girl. This endearing comedy centers on a group of friends living in Northern Ireland during the Troubles in the early ’90s. Come for the hilarity and chaos these teens cause, stay for the delectable one-liners from Sister Michael (Siobhán McSweeney), the gang’s sarcastic headmistress at Our Lady Immaculate College.
Elite
Murder, hookups, and school uniforms? Tío, you can count on a day at Las Encinas to never be boring. The Spanish series follows three scholarship students who, after an earthquake devastates their school, transfer to the most elite private school in España where they have to traverse cliques, social class, and scandal. Each season begins with a new mystery that, of course, the teens have to solve for themselves.
Finding Her Edge
Madelyn Keys stars in this series as Adriana Russo, an ice dancer training for the World Championships with new partner, Brayden (Cale Ambrozic). In order to save the Russo family rink from financial ruin, the duo pretend to be a couple off the ice in an attempt to land a crucial sponsorship. But Adriana still has feelings for her former partner and first love, Freddie (Olly Atkins).
FOREVER
You never forget your first … everything. Set in 2018, this dreamy reimagining of the beloved 1975 Judy Blume novel tells the love story of two Black teens, Justin (Michael Cooper Jr.) and Keisha (Lovie Simone), against the sun-drenched backdrop of Los Angeles. As they learn more about each other, they also come to better understand themselves. When you think of coming-of-age, Forever is forever.
Ginny & Georgia
Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) is tired of living life on the run after years of being moved around by her mom, Georgia (Brianne Howey), along with younger brother Austin (Diesel La Torraca). Ginny hopes their new digs in a small New England town will finally be an opportunity to set down some roots — especially once she meets the neighborhood bad boy, Marcus (Felix Mallard). Though that alone might be reason enough for Georgia to start packing.
Heartbreak High
Sixteen-year-old Amerie Wadia (Ayesha Madon) is in for a rude awakening at Hartley High. Her best friend has just dumped her out of nowhere, and the mural they created to document all their peers’ sexcapades has been discovered for everyone to see. A reboot of the popular ’90s series of the same name, Heartbreak High embraces the highs and lows of reinventing yourself, discovering your sexuality, and experimenting with bold fashion statements.
Heartstopper
You’ll never think of the word “hi” the same way again. This endearing British series follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), an openly gay year 10 student, as he falls for popular year 11 rugby player Nick Nelson (Kit Connor). Its three seasons — as well as the follow-up movie, Heartstopper Forever — tell a tender story of learning to accept who you are and leaning on your loved ones to help guide you through it all.
My Life With the Walter Boys
After a family tragedy, 15-year-old Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) leaves New York City behind and moves in with her mother’s best friend, Katherine (Sarah Rafferty), in Silver Falls, Colorado. Katherine and her husband, George (Marc Blucas), have 10 kids they look after already, and this new environment pushes Jackie out of her comfort zone — and into the arms of two very different brothers: the reliable and bookish Alex (Ashby Gentry) and the mysterious and troubled Cole (Noah LaLonde).
Never Have I Ever
Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) is just your regular Indian American valley girl with a dream: to sleep with Sherman Oaks High’s hottest member of the swim team, Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet). But the series isn’t just about lusting after your crush. Over its four seasons, the comedy also tackles owning up to your mistakes, working through grief and loss, and learning to love yourself — the kinds of things you can’t learn from a textbook.
On My Block
Monsé (Sierra Capri), Jamal (Brett Gray), Ruby (Jason Genao), and Cesar (Diego Tinoco) have been best friends all their lives. But just because a new social stratosphere awaits in high school doesn’t mean the South Central Los Angeles streets they came from have stopped calling. This lighthearted comedy deftly navigates the struggle of trying to build more for yourself while always carrying your hometown block with you.
Outer Banks
Craving a Goonies-style adventure with your best pals? Join the Pogues on the Outer Banks of North Carolina as this group of working-class kids team up to help their bud John B (Chase Stokes) find his missing dad. Along the way, they discover that a legendary treasure is linked to his disappearance. You know, standard high school stuff. Come for the high-speed chases and adrenaline-packed action; stay for the family drama and tried-and-true friendships.
Rebelde
Elite Way School is back in session, ready for more superstar musicians to find their spotlight — and a record deal. A reboot of the early 2000s Mexican telenovela, Rebelde charts the rise of six new freshmen who come together to compete in the Battle of the Bands. The Mexican series features plenty of romance, musical performances, and Easter eggs for fans of the school’s most famous “alumni” — the members of the real-life pop group RBD.
Riverdale
This show is for the weirdos. Slide into a booth at Pop’s diner and order a milkshake with Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) as they try to solve the mystery of a teen’s murder. The contemporary Archie Comics adaptation gets weirder as the seasons go on. We’ll take all the Jingle Jangle and floating babies we can get.
Stranger Things
This five-season sci-fi series doesn’t exactly present its teens with a run-of-the-mill high school experience. In between Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and shopping trips to their local Starcourt Mall, these young adults of 1980s Hawkins, Indiana, also enroll in the very specific extracurricular activity of facing off against monsters from an alternate dimension called the Upside Down. Add that to your college application.
Sex Education
Meet Otis (Asa Butterfield), the teenage son of a sex therapist who, although not super sexually experienced himself, is an encyclopedia on the subject thanks to his upbringing. He joins forces with his classmate (and crush) Maeve (Emma Mackey) to set up a sex clinic for the students inside a dilapidated bathroom on campus. Make sure to schedule your appointment to watch all four seasons.
Wednesday
This isn’t the Addams Family you remember. As Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) heads off to her parents’ alma mater, Nevermore Academy, the ultimate beacon for outcasts is finally amongst her own kind with other psychics, werewolves, sirens, vampires, and … monsters that murder locals in the night. Watch Wednesday woefully dance her way through her first term, solving mysteries and (begrudgingly) making new friends.
XO, Kitty
Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), a featured character in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, seizes the spotlight in this spin-off series as she heads to boarding school in South Korea to follow in her late mom’s footsteps. But when she arrives at KISS (Korean Independent School of Seoul), she learns a whole lot more about herself than she could have ever expected.
Young Royals
Being closeted isn’t easy for anyone, but it gets even more complicated when you’re the heir to the Swedish throne. That’s the reality for Prince Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding), whose family sends him to a boarding school as a disciplinary measure — but this actually allows him to explore his identity. Upon meeting his openly gay classmate Simon (Omar Rudberg), Wilhelm finds himself stuck between love and duty. Follow this three-season series with the accompanying documentary Young Royals Forever.
