In the competition show Lock Upp, a group of notable Indian personalities enter a new-age prison determined to prove their haters wrong. Hosted by Farah Khan (Toaster) and Riteish Deshmukh (Raja Shivaji), the reality series makes these celeb inmates face what they’ve done “wrong” in the eyes of the public — whether that’s lying, being arrogant, or even cheating — and gives them a chance to redeem themselves through physical challenges and, yes, mind games. Will these inmates win over the hosts, aka their jailers, or will they be eliminated? Whichever celebrity successfully sways the hosts will take home 10 million Indian rupees (about $105,000).

The reality series is produced by Ekta Kapoor (Naagin), who tells Netflix, “If the inmates think they’ll have it easy, they clearly haven’t met our jailers yet.” Khan adds, “Across my career, I’ve seen a lot, but Lock Upp is a different beast. No filters, no retakes, just famous people attempting to reveal their true selves — under real pressure.”

Who’s competing in Lock Upp

  • Sunita Ahuja, vlogger: The no-holds-barred Bollywood wife is married to the actor turned politician Govinda, and she’s known for airing her husband’s misdeeds to the public, much to the disapproval of her social circle.
  • Pamala Serena, Desi Bling cast: The reality star brings the drama wherever she goes in the glamorous city of Dubai, but now she has to prove to her down-to-earth fans that she can handle everyday chores just like they can.
  • Shivangi Joshi, actor: After appearing in more than 2,000 episodes of the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, the soap veteran has no problem acting sweet to get what she wants — but that’s led to accusations that she’s just as boring as her girl-next-door character.
  • Sufi Motiwala, fashion commentator: Sufi’s critiques of red-carpet fashion go viral on social media because of his signature bite — he’s known to judge outfits and the people wearing them, which has put him in the hot seat.
  • Shreya Kalra, content creator: She’s been accused of being “loud, rude, and a hypocrite” after calling her maid names, but the social media star is ready to prove she’s more than what meets the eye.
  • Riyaz Aly, influencer: With 27 million followers across platforms, Riyaz is all over your FYP thanks to TikTok lip syncs and fit checks, but his critics call him the poster boy of “copy-paste culture.”
  • Shresta Iyer, dancer: While her brother, Shreyas, a famous Indian cricketer, is breaking records on the pitch, Shresta is busy duking it out with trolls who question her privilege on social media.
  • Dheeraj Dhoopar, actor: The romantic hero from the series Kundali Bhagya — who caused an uproar when he compared himself to Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan — will do anything to get more screen time.
  • Ram Kapoor, actor: Known for his performance on the series Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and his transition to Bollywood films, Kapoor has one fatal flaw: his ability to turn everything into a joke, especially when responding to fans on social media.
  • Yogesh Rawat, Splitsvilla cast member: The reality dating show star is accused of deliberately misleading his romantic connections within — and outside — the show.
  • Akanksha Chaudhary, Splitsvilla cast member: Chaudhary fell for Yogesh on Splitsvilla, but after the show he left her for his prior situationship. When fans caught Chaudhary and Yogesh still hanging out together, it landed them both in hot water.
  • Harshad Chopda, actor: Harshad, who co-starred with Shivangi on the series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, stands accused by fans of being too private, and they want the “ungrateful” superstar to share more of his life on his socials.
  • Varun “Laila” Yadav, content creator: After a subpar high school experience, Varun became a prankster on social media — but the public thinks he’s a bad influence on his fans.
  • Akanksha Chamola, actor: Star of the children’s series Bhootu, Chamola is a self-proclaimed dancer and diva. She’s married to Bollywood actor Gaurav Khanna, and critics often see her dance moves on social media as an attempt to steal the spotlight from her more famous husband.
  • Madhuri Jain Grover, entrepreneur: Madhuri is married to Ashneer Grover, a fellow entrepreneur. The couple run the fintech company BharatPe. While Ashneer is the public face of the company, haters think Madhuri used her husband to become a “nepo-prenueur.”
